Trails Crew - Park Worker (Seasonal)

8-hour shift (7am-3pm)

Seasonal, Hourly

Hourly Range: $13.00 - $16.25/hr

Job Summary

This position will maintain hiking, mountain biking, and the Oak Leaf trails through trimming back bush, installing signs, addressing erosion issues, removing fallen logs, and etc. This position would also require interested applicants to have an interest in learning and being involved in physical outside work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Trail and park facility operations - Maintain soft and hard surface trails by trimming, mowing, clearing dead fall, installing signs, removing graffiti, picking up trash, remove invasive plants, etc. Additionally, cooperating across other parks divisions and outside organizations to execute the above tasks.
  • Planning - Use GIS and other software to plan for trail reroutes, existing inventory and proposed signs, and plan for trail closures and expansions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to properly or safely operate: DR mower, chainsaws, brushsaws, work trucks, loppers, hand saws, mattocks, shovels, drills, shovels, ladders, etc.
  • Ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 25 lbs.

Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences

  • Sixteen (16) years of age or older upon application required
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License required and must be maintained throughout employment
