Adult Protective Services Intern

Department of Health & Human Services

Hourly Pay: $15.00

Job Summary: One part-time internship opportunity is available to work and learn from the Adult Protective Services (APS) team. This intern will gain valuable experiences by assisting in conducting individual assessments of basic needs, providing outreach, and supporting other programmatic needs. This opportunity will provide the intern education related to operational aspects of services offered in APS.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct basic needs assessments to determine appropriate types of community-based referrals or provide supports to individuals served. Send appropriate referrals for services as identified in the assessment.
  • Provide support to data entry needs daily. Compile data from assessments conducted by Human Services Worker's and evaluate information.
  • Attend and support community outreach events to share awareness of APS program and activities.
  • Participate in team meetings, committees, and workgroups to maintain effective communication. Provide support with facilitating, co-facilitation, and/or taking meeting minutes as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a current resident of Wisconsin
  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver license and personal vehicle.
  • Candidates must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or in a closely related field.
  • Availability to work 16-24 hours per week.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Proficient utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Able and willing to travel, within community, up to 50% of work time.

NOTE: This original application is open to permanent residents of the state of Wisconsin at the time of application. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
