Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:    

  • Verifies health benefits, deductibles and co-payments prior to appointments and notifies patient of their financial obligations.

  • Work with patients that have high financial obligation balances and set up payment plans where appropriate.

  • Refer uninsured patients to Outreach and Enrollment staff to investigate health coverage resources available for the patient.Verify pre-authorization has been obtained and arrange patient payment for services not covered by insurance prior to visit.

  • Verify accurate insurance information has been scanned into Centricity system.

  • Verify sliding fee documents have been obtained, calculated correctly and updated when appropriate.

  • Identify and assist patients who qualify for the hardship application and present completed forms to Finance for review.

  • Embraces change that improves results and assists others through the change process.

  • Acts as a team member and collaborates with other teams and departments within the organization to meet patient care needs.

  • Communicate effectively in a timely manner. Demonstrate understanding of effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Participate in departmental trainings and maintain continuing education requirements.

  • Perform other job-related duties, as may be assigned.

  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 
  • Education:           High School graduate.
  • Experience:         Experience in health care billing and/or registration and prior work with electronic health record systems and customer service.
  • Expertise:            Analytical and critical thinking skills to make independent decisions in a complex, fast-paced environment. Microsoft Office experience. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent organizational skills required for prioritizing workload.
  • Language:            Comprehend and use basic language either written or spoken to communicate information and ideals.
  • Hours of Work:     May vary based on Organizational need.
  • Travel:                  May vary based on Organizational need.
