JOB DESCRIPTION

Adient North American Supply Chain Packaging Engineering team is looking for a new team member to assist in multiple launching programs and continuous improvement projects. The Packaging Engineer- Intern will be responsible to manage the packaging engineering development and program management of packaging approvals for inbound components for multiple facilities and launching programs in North America region.

Job Responsibilities: Manage Packaging projects in any of the following areas:

  • Support Packaging Quoting and Sourcing Process and Development
  • Support Packaging Bill of Design and Process Development
  • Support Development and Management of Standard Packaging Specification Data Systems and Tools
  • Support RFID Container Management System and Process
  • Support Adient Technical Centers, Plant Operations, Suppliers, Logistics Consolidation centers

Other responsibilities to support of Sr. Packaging Engineers include:

  • Coordinate launching programs component suppliers packaging proposals in the Adient Packaging Data Form System from concept to final approvals.
  • Design, develop, and approve component packaging that minimizes risk of product damage, presents the product optimally to the manufacturing operator, and maximizes pack density, all while minimizing cost.
  • Facilitate and recommend packaging solutions based on current automotive industry best practices.
  • Facilitate the timing of returnable packaging delivery to meet program launching timing with packaging vendors and component vendors.
  • Support packaging implementation across numerous Adient facilities.
  • Utilize RFID to manage Adient packaging assets within the supply chain.

Internship Job qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university and working towards a 4 year B.S. degree in Packaging.
  • Available to work up to 40 hours per week
  • Minimum overall GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in automotive related position an added plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail, organization skills and follow up
  • Proficient in MS Office
