Maintenance Helper - Nights
Location: Milwaukee
Pay: $24-$27/hour + $0.85/hour Night Shift Premium
Schedule: Monday-Friday Nights | Start Time: 4:00 PM | End Time: ~12:00 AM-3:00 AM
Employment Type: Temp-to-Direct Hire (Immediate Start Preferred)
Hours: 45-60 hours/week on average

We are seeking a Maintenance Helper (Night Shift) to support our maintenance team at our Milwaukee scrap processing facility. This is a hands-on role assisting in both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of our auto shredder systems. No previous experience on auto shredders is required-we will train the right candidate.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude and a desire to grow in the industrial maintenance field. Candidates with welding experience or prior work around moving conveyor systems are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist skilled millwrights with mechanical maintenance tasks
- Perform basic maintenance cleaning and greasing
- Help coordinate and organize maintenance parts and tools
- Support both scheduled and emergency repairs on industrial equipment
- Serve as a second set of hands during large repairs and equipment checks
- Work alongside operations and maintenance supervisors and outside contractors
- Follow all safety guidelines and report any hazards or issues promptly
- Opportunity to learn and grow into more advanced maintenance roles
Qualifications:
- Basic mechanical aptitude required
- Welding experience a strong plus
- Experience working around conveyor systems is a plus (not required)
- Willingness to work overnight shifts and extended hours as needed
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to follow directions
- Ability to lift, move, and work in an industrial environment
