Overview
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of our New York office.
GFB Vice President, Relationship Management roles are responsible for supporting Relationship Managers who are Directors and Managing Directors in cultivating, acquiring, growing and maintaining Private Equity and Venture Capital client relationships by building deep connections across individuals at these firms, including Partners, COOs, CFOs, and finance staff. Individuals in this role will also need to build strong relationships with other influential members of the private asset ecosystem such as limited partners, fund administrators, attorneys, and other service providers in the space. Cross-selling the entire SVB platform of products (including debt, treasury, foreign exchange, and private bank) to address client business needs and personal needs; and orchestrating cross-functional teams to optimize the client experience is also required. Additionally, the individual will work closely with the GFB Portfolio Management team by leading the due diligence and deal structuring process, while assisting in the underwriting, approval and closing process.
Responsibilities
- Provide Sr. RM(s) new deal support such as drafting Term Sheets & Greenlight memos - liaison with Portfolio Management on this, as well as new deal diligence (LP and LPA analysis)
- Support assigned SR RM(s) by curating, managing, planning (and often attending) events that bring clients and prospects, as well as other players in the private fund markets together, building a sense of community. Develop a network of clients, prospects and other private market influencers.
- Ensure accuracy and timely submission of deal pipeline, CRM, and liquidity/exception reporting
- Research COIs, LPs, and Prospects via Preqin and similar services, SVB sales analytics and other sources (collaborate with other Jr. RMs to do so)
- Assist SR RMs in coordinating with LPR, FCB MMB/Sponsor Finance teams and Private Bank for accurate referral documentation and execution (seek consistency on reporting expectations across all Jr. RMs)
- Support SR RMs with meeting preparation, including research, prospect presentations and relationship overviews for existing clients
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience in credit analysis, portfolio management and deal structuring, along with a demonstrated interest in new business development and relationship management or High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong negotiation skills, communication skills and ability to engage with clients effectively and independently.
- Application experience across Excel, Powerpoint, Tableau and related programs to support a sales team.
- Experience in the Fund Finance industry including managing credit, cash management and other products used by venture capital and private equity firms.
- Proven ability to collaborate internally across key roles, teams and product groups.
- Lead due diligence, structuring, underwriting and documentation processes independently.
- Able to manage a portfolio of loans proactively and independently, while exercising proper judgment on when additional guidance and engagement of others is appropriate.
- Able to engineer creative solutions to client needs.
The base pay for this position is generally between $121128-181692 annually. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
