BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY
Under the general direction of the Fixed Assets Supervisor. Supports Devon Energy Financial Accounting by preparing and overseeing Fixed Asset processes, primarily focused around Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO), Asset Settlement, and Acquisition & Divestiture accounting. Responsible for leading projects and regularly works across segments within Devon Energy. The ability to communicate clearly with internal and external parties and maintain a focus on continuous improvement is critical to continued success. Must be able to manage desk to meet monthly deadlines.

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and oil and gas accounting
Able to communicate financial and technical information clearly and concisely

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare entries and review controls related to the asset retirement obligation
Assess the status of assets under construction to be moved to be placed in service for oil and gas, corporate, and midstream assets
Ensure appropriate treatment of assets under construction, including impairment assessments
Collaborate cross-functionally in support of Devon's goals, overall accounting efficiencies, and to provide effective customer service
Ensure appropriate accounting treatment of oil and gas acquisitions and divestitures under the Successful Efforts method of accounting
Validate property related transactions and reports are prepared in compliance with internal controls and policies, and relevant laws and regulations, including U.S. GAAP and SEC
Help facilitate and lead discussion/research in the resolution of complex issues
Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE
Approximately 3 or more years of experience in financial accounting and/or oil and gas accounting

EDUCATION (Minimum level of education required for the job).
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Requires the ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written skills)
Ability to work with data effectively
Experience using Microsoft Office
Experience with optimization software preferred
