Job Summary
Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants to fill a TES Animal Care/Weekend Kennel Worker position. The individual in this position will provide support to the Canine Performance Sciences department as related to animal care and husbandry.

This position will work 8-hour to 10-hour days on Saturday and Sunday between 6:30am and 4:00pm. More days will be added depending on Holiday Schedule.

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work
  • Emergencies

AU students are not eligible for TES.
Essential Functions
  • Independently perform a variety of animal care duties such as (but not limited to) feeding, watering, grooming, and cleaning
  • Assist with animal treatments as directed
  • Visually assess the health and well-being of canines
  • Update health/treatment records
  • May assist with canine transportation
  • May participate in canine exercise and enrichment activities
  • May provide assistance with canine handling, training, acclimation/socialization, welfare, care, research, and other CPS activities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Be able to lift 50+ pounds
  • Cannot work or volunteer with another vet clinic or animal shelter/rescue/foster organization
Desired Qualifications
Previous canine kennel care and canine breeding.

Work Hours Hours are typically Saturday and Sunday between 6:30 am and 4:00 pm and will be required to work holidays
