Responsibilities

The Hyperbaric Technologist working in Hyperbaric is responsible for assisting the Medical Director, medical staff and registered nurses with the treatment and education of patients in an advanced wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy center. The technician assists in the provision for safe and therapeutic management of patient care to an assigned group of patients while adhering to the standards of practice, policies and procedures, and the collaboration with other members of the health care team. If assigned, The Hyperbaric Safety Director (HSD) performs duties under the supervision of the medical director, director and clinical coordinator as appropriate for the hyperbaric facility. The HSD/Hyperbaric Technologist is responsible for the day to day maintenance, safety and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems in the hyperbaric facility.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Must have a current and valid license in respective field (ex. Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist)
2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
3. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate
4. Must have documentation of successful completion of at least a 40 credit hour National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) - approved Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory Course completed within 120 days.
5. Current certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) stated by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) highly preferred.
6. One year clinical experience in Outpatient Wound Center preferred
7. If assigned Hyperbaric Safety Director, attend an approved Hyperbaric Safety Director course within 6 months
