Title: Employment Services Coordinator

Reports To: Employment Services Director
Pay: $ 58,780.80 - Exempt position
Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends.

Description
YMCA International Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston's significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. As the Employment Services Coordinator, you will play an integral role in helping refugees, asylees, Cuban/Haitian Entrants, and victims of human trafficking gain access to a wide range of employment services with the goal of becoming self-sufficient.

Duties /Responsibilities
Program Coordinator's primary responsibilities include:

  • Be knowledgeable of and apply program manual and grant policies.
  • Monitor program outcomes to ensure that program is successful and remains in compliance. Provide feedback, address conflicts or struggles, and solve problems to ensure program is successful.
  • Manage employment case managers, employment specialists and quality assurance specialist.
  • Provide regular educational presentations related to employment. Coordinate employment related classes with internal and external providers. Track and document clients' attendance.
  • Network with the community educational providers to find relevant resources for clients: ESL, Vocational Trainings, literacy, etc.
  • Audit staff files and case notes to ensure compliance.
  • Verify client data in Client Track to assess client eligibility for services and/or to request transfer of services.
  • Meet with RCA Employment clients to discuss sanctions and non-compliance.
  • Work with employment specialists to enhance coordination of services and referrals of clients to pending job orders.
  • Recruit volunteers and maintain partnerships to provide training, interpretation, and other supportive services.
  • Attend and participate in collaborative meetings as agency representative with other stakeholders.
  • Write narrative and compose quantitative reports by required deadlines in order to provide updates on the status of the programs.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with program director and senior management to ensure provision of quality services.
  • Train new staff hired and provide orientation about YMCA International Services programs.
  • Provide pick-up services from the airport for arriving refugees as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Annual Outcomes and Indicators
Program Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Gather data and collaborate in writing quarter reports to the funder.
  • Supervise program staff to provide guidance on service provision and ensure outcomes are met.
  • Audit files in the programs to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor client eligibility for services and request transfer of services.
  • Coordinate communication with community partners.
  • Continued identification of employment opportunities for newly arrived refugees.
  • Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  • Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Fluency in a refugee language preferred.
  • Ability to understand program policies and make informed decisions.
  • Flexibility,dependabilityandexcellentworkethic.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to other cultures.
  • Ability to manage time and resources. Team player.
  • Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours as necessary.
  • Highly self-motivated, responsive and a good trouble-shooter.
  • Experience supervising/coordinating individuals and teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent via extensive field experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License, clean driving record, own transportation, applicable auto insurance.
  • Must be willing to drive 15-passenger vans as needed.
