Job Overview

This is an onsite position in based in Milwaukee, WI or Longview, TX

The Director of Operations, Drills leads the manufacturing operations, materials management and quality teams for the Surface Drilling Business Unit, ensuring successful achievement of plans and targets for Safety, Law, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership, expertise, and execution in the areas of operations, outsourcing/subcontracting, purchasing, production planning and scheduling, and inventory control.
  • Establishes strategies and requirements for all aspects of capacity and sizing of facilities supporting drill manufacturing through either growth or "right sizing" depending on business climate.
  • Working in collaboration with engineering leaders and engineering teams, implements product introduction execution and integration as well as standardization and rationalization of parts and components.
  • Primarily responsible for cost achievement of production products. Identify ways to maximize operating profit through iterative cost reduction efforts.
  • Drives the execution of all safety and environmental goals, ensuring Zero Harm for all employees.
  • Collaboration and coordination with the Global Supply Chain and Operations teams ensure/enhance synergies.
Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field is required, MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience of multiple locations within a successful industrial organization
  • Deep understanding of global manufacturing best practices along with the proven courage and ability to execute flawlessly on those plans once established. Experience in all facets of manufacturing (engineering, quality, supply chain, etc.). Possess a strong understanding of the following manufacturing processes, machining, fabrication, bending, welding, painting and assembly.
  • Has examples of improvements in key operations metrics such as on-time delivery, cycle time, productivity, quality, schedule attainment, cost, safety, inventory levels, and turns.
  • Proven experience in leading manufacturing organizations through operations excellence, including planning and scheduling and schedule adherence, driving continuous improvement methodologies and must have proven experience in Lean manufacturing throughout the organization. Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification a plus.
  • Extensive experience in union free and union environments including negotiating a union contract and dealing directly and effectively with union leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing business strategy, short-range and long-range strategies along with establishing, controlling, and managing operating budgets and annual operating plans and objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships at senior management as well as suppliers and customers.
  • High-degree of integrity and dependability with a keen sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. Talent assessment skill set and ability to build, lead, develop and grow an outstanding leadership team. Well-developed management skills (ability to mentor, delegate and motivate). Experience at making key staffing changes as required by the business as strategies and requirements change. Ability to modify the people and organization to meet the changing times.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills. A team player who interfaces effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal) - To all levels and constituents of the business. From the board to the hourly employee and from the top to bottom of all customers and suppliers.
  • Action-oriented, initiative-taking and self-disciplined. Able to collaborate well with colleagues, multi-task, and produce results within a dynamic, fast-paced organization
  • Capacity and passion for self-development and pursuing excellence. A drive for continued learning both for him/herself and the entire organization.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and quantitative skills. Capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing along SLQDC.
