Our client is in the retail space, and is looking for an Assistant Controller to help manage day to day accounting functions. The team is very friendly and close-knit, and they foster a very entrepreneurial environment.

Role
  • Oversee the efficiency and precision of daily operations, covering tasks such as handling accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing for portfolio companies, managing customer credits and collections, maintaining fixed asset records, overseeing general and entity accounting, managing cost accounting, processing employee reimbursements, and managing intercompany allocations.
  • Play an active role in the annual budgeting process for the management company.
  • Implement measures to safeguard assets and ensure the accurate and timely recording of transactions by establishing controls and checks across departments.
  • Streamline the monthly general ledger closure process, including billing for portfolio companies.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for streamlining accounting processes to enhance efficiency and contribute to the purchase accounting of portfolio companies.
  • Document processes for all accounting cycle aspects and continually develop and document accounting policies and procedures.
  • Foster internal relationships across all organizational levels by offering support and collaborating across departments.
  • Hold supervisory responsibilities for managing, training, and evaluating the accounting team, including task planning, delegation, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of monthly results from portfolio companies to senior management and develop management reporting systems to facilitate access to financial data for real-time decision-making

Requirements
  • BAin Accounting, Finance or similar
  • CPA or MBA strongly preferred
  • 6 years minimum experience in accounting, including GAAP
  • Organized, curious, detail oriented, and high-touch communicator
  • Team player and process oriented
  • Ability to effectively strategize and present policy and procedure improvements and ideas
  • This role is 100% on site

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
