Description

What makes our care community different? People like you. The Lutheran Home Belle Plaine Campus' Maintenance Supervisor position is a full-time, Monday-Friday position. It will also include on-call rotation responsibilities.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for delegating daily work order to other maintenance staff as well as for building, grounds (including lawn mowing and snow removal), equipment safety and plant operation. Observes that all operating equipment including boilers, ventilation systems, air and refrigeration equipment, pumps etc. are operating properly and reports any problems to the Director of Environmental Services.

FUNDAMENTAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize and delegate TELS work orders and tasks to other maintenance staff.
  • Communicate issues and needs to the Director of Environmental Services.
  • Order supplies and minor equipment as necessary while being fiscally conscientious.
  • Ensure that all fire drills and inspections and reports are completed in the Life Safety Binder to ensure compliance with Minnesota Fire Marshall requirements.
  • Inspect, test generators, and fill out proper documentation.
  • Inspect and make repairs to wheelchairs, ortho-biotic chairs, geriatric chairs, beds, HVAC, and all other furniture, building equipment and systems.
  • Perform general maintenance work like changing lights and trash removal.
  • Inspect, test, and repair all types of mechanical operating equipment to insure normal operation.
  • Transports supplies and materials both in and out of the facility.
  • Prepares surfaces, paints them, and performs other structural repairs and carpentry.
  • Services and operates equipment to cut and trim grass in summer, plows, and shovels snow in winter.
  • Inspects and maintains the building plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Assists in setting up for special occasions for staff, residents, and community events.
  • On-Call Rotation as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have the knowledge to repair and/or arrange for repair of plumbing, electrical, electronic systems such as boilers, water softeners, air conditioners, washers, dryers, heating and cooling equipment, etc.
  • Possess the ability to follow verbal and written instructions along with record keeping capabilities relating to this industry ensuring readiness for state surveys.
  • Must be available for on-call responsibilities.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Class B Boiler's License Preferred
  • Must have at a minimum, a Special Class Boiler's License with willingness to obtain Class B within one year of employment.
  • Related experience and/or training in maintenance
