Work Schedule:

M-F, 8am-2pm or 11am-5pm

Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 9 with a minimum of $16.32 and a mid-point of $18.80. Hourly rate will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College's compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of routine difficulty by providing child care services and completing required documentation. Work is distinguished by the ability to provide a safe environment . Work is performed under direct supervision of the manager and/or director.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  2. Good knowledge of child development
  3. Working skills in child care
  4. Working skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access and Publisher
  5. Working skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  6. Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  7. Working skills in verbal and written communication.
  8. Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
  9. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department's needs.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Good knowledge of Department of Children and Family Services licensing standards and center policies.

Essential Duties:

  1. Establish and maintain direct supervision of the children to ensure a safe and developmentally appropriate environment at all times.
  2. Maintain a safe, clean environment to foster learning and development. Regularly clean and disinfect work surfaces and equipment.
  3. Provide routine care for children of different ages; feed, diaper, assist children in hand washing, administer first aid, and provide other care as needed.
  4. Assist the Lead Teacher in the regular documentation of children's attendance, food intake and eating habits, medication distribution, fire/tornado drills, incidents and/or accidents, to establish a record of the children's physical, social and cognitive development and progress.
  5. Assist in classroom and materials preparation.
  6. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
  7. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  8. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  9. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  10. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.

Other Duties:

  1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  2. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
