Description:

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director, Recruitment implements the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences prospective and admitted student recruitment and yield programs and manages daily operations of the College's first-year enrollment initiatives. The Assistant Director will build and support pipelines and new initiatives with targeted high schools to increase yield and enrollment. The Assistant Director will oversee the College's new student recruitment scholarship award process and work closely with LAS Advancement and the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Job Responsibilities (Essential Duties):

-The Assistant Director implements recruitment and yield programming for prospective students and recently admitted first-year students across the array of undergraduate academic programs that span the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, interdisciplinary programs, and pre-professional preparation area

-In partnership with College Student Affairs' administrators, prospective and admitted student yield programming will include the value of a liberal arts and sciences education in preparation for active citizenship and career development

-The Assistant Director will collaborate with campus recruitment, student success programs, faculty, directors of undergraduate studies, departmental staff, LAS Student Academic Affairs staff, and current undergraduate students

-Create partnerships with top feeder LAS high school teacher and high school counselors to increase first-year enrollment determined by LAS College data analytics and research

-To build and support our high school to LAS pipeline, the Assistant Director will collaborate with campus support programs and Enrollment Management to support recruitment, enrollment, and retention rate of the targeted students

-The Assistant Director will help develop strategies for the College to retain these students with wrap around support, including yield communication to track their completion of next steps to enroll and register for classes

-Manage the LAS Recruitment Scholarship process with LAS Advancement and Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships to recruit future LAS students

- Develop and implement a full-range of recruitment and yield strategies to attract prospective first-year students, to meet the enrollment needs and targets of the College, including Open House, Ignite: UIC Admitted Student Day, Preview Days, LAS Admitted Visits, virtual events, and more

- Design strategic practices that can improve enrollment efforts in the College Liberal Arts and Sciences, including outreach, special events, and communication strategies

- Develop new initiatives to connect with LAS prospective and admitted students, including, innovative recruitment strategies to reach diverse student populations

- Meet with prospective and admitted students and families, provide insight about life as a Liberal Arts and Science student via in-person appointments, phone, email, social media

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences
2 years progressive experience in new student recruitment and yield initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Education, Public Administration or related field
-Demonstrated understanding of the advantages of a liberal arts and sciences education
-Experience working with diverse students
-Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills
-Strong organizational skills
-Strong public speaking skills
-Familiarity with student information and content management systems required
-Ability to analyze, interpret and report research data.
