The base salary range for a Staff Accountant is $44,300 to $79,700. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

Job Title Overview

This position is responsible for performing various accounting tasks as assigned. The scope of work includes preparation of monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, financial reports and analysis, preparation of regulatory filings and review of financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to established accounting procedures and principles.

Essential Duties

  • Prepares, analyzes, and reviews financial statements for accuracy and completeness
  • Responsible for recording of account entries by compiling and analyzing accounting activities
  • Preparation of monthly journal entries, bank reconciliation, financial reporting and analysis
  • Responsible for preparing Accounts Receivable/Cash Receipts journal entries and reconciling accounts receivable and cash receipts
  • Preparation of Regulatory Filings
  • Participates in year-end and monthly/quarterly accounting procedures
  • Provides support and assistance to internal and external auditors as needed

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in accounting procedures
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with a team and interact effectively with other department members
  • Ability to complete tasks timely to meet financial close deadlines.
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload and willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in use of accounting software as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook)

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Insurance industry background
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in corporate or public accounting department or equivalent military experience
  • CPA or Eligible Candidate
