Job Description

Major Tool & Machine is seeking a proactive, experienced Team Leader to work in a custom machining environment supporting various markets including Aerospace, Nuclear, Power Generation, and Defense. Applicants should have the following:
* A strong understanding of planning, scheduling and daily operational management function for the shop floor
* Strong communication skills and a desire to work directly with people at various levels of the organization
* Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
* Capable with Microsoft Office products, computers


Job Duties
* Monitor proper cleanliness of team members' machines and work areas on a daily basis.
* Accountable for performance of team in efficiency, indirect, quality, safety, 6S, and other performance metrics.
* Interact with all groups inside the company (programming, tooling, engineering)
* Conduct regularly scheduled one on one meetings with team members giving performance feedback


Experience
Must have strong machining background, a minimum of 5-10 years' work experience with at least two of those in a supervisory capacity with proven success. Previous machining experience would have entailed the following duties:
* Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing instructions, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
* Properly selecting, aligning, and securing work holding. Being able to improvise setups using common tooling such as risers, angle plates, etc.
* Monitoring and/or developing speed, feed, depth or angle of cut during machining operations.
* Verifying that all machined details are produced in a manner that meets print or router specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
