An Internship with Parker is a great way to expand your Engineering knowledge! This is a summer internship in our Lincolnshire, Illinois facility.

This position will assist in engineering activities that support designs or process improvements of the Hydraulic Valves System Division, located in Lincolnshire, IL. The position will be a driving force for continuous improvement for the facility while working with all levels of the organization. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities and contributions to and support of other teams or individuals as needed. Interns will be provided with training and mentorship that will translate to real-world skills and experiences, including:

  • Collaborating in a team environment to develop assigned portions of designs by analyzing specifications and performance requirements.
  • Performing routine designs and supporting development of assigned products by applying basic engineering principles and established analytical tools.
  • Investigating product development factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, specifications, costs, and change management.
  • Completing defined technical tasks (e.g., modifying product functional specifications, detailing drawings and schematics, analyzing and interpreting test reports).
  • Developing reports and documentation in response to technical information requests.
  • Conducting routine analyses and/or tests to evaluate product designs and completing required technical documentation by applying engineering principles and company standards.
  • Providing technical information for review with engineering and design review teams by applying established engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods.
  • Utilizing lean product development and standard engineering development techniques.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or advanced degree program in a related engineering field such as: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering
    • Sophomore or Junior standing in your university
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team member.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using CAD systems such as AutoCad Inventor, etc.
  • Experience with simulation software such as FAE/CFD/1D
  • Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident
