Materials Manager

Function:

Develop, and implement production plans that are adherent to the company's inventory objectives while achieving on time delivery of customer orders. Works closely with Contracts in developing forecasts for both short and long-range material requirements while considering inventory, obsolescence, lead times and production capacity.

Duties:

  1. Analyze production requirements and optimize MRP planning modifiers to align planned orders with future firm orders.
  2. Develop efficient production plans for each product line, maximizing resource utilization and optimizing inventory turnover.
  3. Schedule and release lower-level assemblies to synchronize with upper-level demands, ensuring timely production.
  4. Utilize MRP reschedule messages to adjust planned and released shop orders based on changes to customer order delivery dates.
  5. Modify production schedules to accommodate customer order revisions, cancellations, or priorities.
  6. Communicate with supply chain manager or buyers regarding expedited or deferred purchase orders as per MRP suggestions.
  7. Take responsibility for firming and releasing planned orders.
  8. Maintain relationships with Purchasing and Operations to address parts delivery schedule misalignments, prioritize tasks, and manage risks promptly.
  9. Review work-in-progress (WIP) shop orders to ensure timely completion.
  10. Collaborate with Supply Chain Manager to address materials in Material Review Board (MRB) for timely disposition.
  11. Resolve conflicts between material availability and production plans in coordination with the Supply Chain Manager.
  12. Communicate, enforce, and apply company philosophies, strategies, policies, and procedures to support staff.
  13. Interpret drawings, verify correctness, and completeness of routings as needed.
  14. Manage materials inventory through cycle counts and inventory control measures.
  15. Develop monthly production forecast with Operations and Sales
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Production Planning encompassing total planning from the design phase through procurement, fabrication, sub and final assembly, test, pack, and ship.
  2. Experience in total product planning to include all components of a specific product defined by a (BOM) Bill of Material and close interface with procurement on all material which is supplied by outside vendors.
  3. Experience with a fully integrated ERP system.
  4. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
