Location: Littleton, MA (Hybrid)

Position Summary: This position reports directly to the VP/Senior Compliance Officer and a "dotted-line" reporting to the Chief Risk Officer ("CRO") & General Counsel. This position will assist in the implementation and maintenance of compliance and legal risk management programs and policies; provide guidance and advice to various business units on legal and compliance matters, including risk management, governance, and contractual obligations; assist in managing relationships with external legal counsel, regulatory agencies, auditors, and examiners; and, assist in maintaining required compliance training programs in collaboration with the Learning & Development Department.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and maintain current knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements relating to Credit Union operations, products, and services.
  2. Assist the VP/Senior Compliance Officer with evaluating, creating processes, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
  3. Assist the VP/ Senior Compliance Officer and CRO & General Counsel with reviewing, documenting, monitoring, and drafting any necessary responses to legal matters including but not limited to subpoenas and summonses.
  4. Assist the CRO & General Counsel and VP/Senior Compliance Officer to review, draft and/or obtain approval on legal documents such as Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and contracts.
  5. Assist in the drafting and revising of policies and procedures for Compliance/Risk.
  6. Interact and collaborate with other business departments to ensure and integrate compliance considerations into products and services development and operations of the Credit Union.
  7. Assists the VP/Senior Compliance Officer in handling, recording, and responding to complaints which includes any further actions.
  8. Assist the VP/Senior Compliance Officer in performing ongoing compliance monitoring and the self-testing program of the Credit Union's departments including branch offices to ensure adherence to all applicable federal and state laws impacting the various lines of business.
  9. Assist the VP/Senior Compliance Officer and collaborates with Learning & Development department with the online compliance training program which includes identification and assignment of the online compliance courses, as well as administration, maintenance, and reporting of the system.
  10. Assist the VP/Senior Compliance Officer with meeting/committee preparation including any necessary assistance during and after any meetings.
  11. Perform any additional duties for the Risk Department as requested.

What you will need to be successful: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be bondable and able to perform each essential duty with a high degree of competence. An associate degree is required and/or 5 to 7 years of legal and compliance related experience in a financial institution, government agency, or law firm, as well as extensive knowledge of Massachusetts and federal consumer compliance laws and regulations governing credit union operations, experience in financial institution overall operations including applicable laws and regulations to products, payment systems, operational functions/processes, and delivery channels.

Certifications and designations such as CUCE, BSACS, NCRM, NCCO, CIA, etc. are preferred, but not required. Excellent analytical, quantitative, and data-gathering skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret laws, regulations, and procedure manuals. Excellent interpersonal skills along with strong oral and written communication skills.
