Summary:

The Assistant Director, Vendor Controls, plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of the University's vendor management/payment process. This position will oversee a staff of 4 FTE, utilizing 3rd party technology (PaymentWorks & Concur) to ensure vendor set up and compliance in order to mitigate fraud. The Assistant Director will participate in various vendor control activities such as 1099 issuance, escheatment review, vendor onboarding, maintenance, and risk management assessments. They will also act as a liaison with our banking partner to complete positive pay actioning, stop payment and ach reversal requests. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with experience in accounts payable operations and a strong understanding of internal controls. They will build partnerships with our internal customers to create a positive and cohesive experience. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. At least four (4) years of experience in Accounts Payable operations with a focus on vendor controls. Proven experience in vendor onboarding, master data maintenance, and risk assessment procedures. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

* Experience with accounts payable automation software.

* Experience with year-end 1099 processes.

* Experience managing a team of Accounts Payable or related area staff.
* Strong understanding of internal controls and risk mitigation strategies.

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

* Ability to work/add value in a cohesive team environment.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office.


Preferred
:

* Experience with SAP Concur or PaymentWorks.

This position requires a background check.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
