The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra - You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Design Engineer - Calibration.

Job Summary

This Engineering position will play a key role in delivering compliant Harley-Davidson / Screamin' Eagle products to the marketplace. The Design Engineer will be responsible for planning and executing calibration projects while ensuring the projects meet the quality and timing expectations of all stakeholders. The engineer will release calibrations on time per H-D's project management methodology and build requirements. There will be extensive interaction with Operational Excellence (OE), Parts and Accessories (P&A) categories, and the test labs to achieve results.

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of engineering calculations and engineering analysis.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders through the exchange of information, asking questions and checking for understanding.
  • Demonstrates a fundamental knowledge of engineering tools gained through education or past experience.
  • Develop emissions (tailpipe, evaporative, and sound) compliant calibration utilizing lab test results to develop and verify results.
  • Accountable for delivering worldwide emissions compliance for Screamin' Eagle Life Cycle Plan (LCP) projects.
  • Responsible for delivering world class vehicle drivability through calibration.
  • Support the application and approval of vehicle and kit emissions certifications with relevant agencies (EPA, CARB, EU, etc.).
  • Release calibrations on time per H-D's Project Management Methodology (MX) and build requirements.
  • Domestic travel will be required through the life of the projects that this role supports.

Experience Requirements

The Design Engineer typically requires a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:

  • Experience in the fundamentals of (ICE) internal combustion engine and powertrain operation.
  • Solid understand ICE performance and emissions tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated the ability to develop and follow a test plan to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Understanding of data acquisition systems and techniques through successful execution of projects.

Preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate they are able to:

  • Strong knowledge in the fundamentals of ICE calibration development.
  • Experience using calibration tools (such as ATI Vision, and MatLab/Simulink)
  • Knowledge and experience of H-D and/or aftermarket motorcycle tuning products.
  • Motorcycle riding enthusiast.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
