Primary Responsibilities Include:
Ability to perform histological staining, including but not limited to routine (H&E), special staining, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry assays.
Assists in the development and optimization of histological staining assays as well as antibodies used in immunofluorescent/immunohistochemical staining.
Helps to maintain antibody and reagent inventory. Assists in ordering supplies related to histology activities. Receives, labels and/or stores supplies as needed.
Develop a strong technical knowledge of balances, scales, centrifuges, cassette and slide labelers, tissue processors, automated slide stainers, and other routine laboratory equipment.
Assists in the preparation, allocation, and/or staining of clinical biopsy samples.
Performs protocol-specific necropsy evaluations of laboratory animals, including sample container preparation, harvesting, and weighing of tissues, as well as accurate and timely record keeping.
Performs a variety of tissue preservation techniques, including liquid nitrogen immersion, fixation, and perfusion procedures.
Responsible for the preparation of pre-clinical and clinical study materials to support Gene Therapy, Gene Editing, and RNA programs.
Coordinates with study directors regarding pre-clinical study workflow.
Assists with tissue embedding, microtomy, slide staining, quality control of tissues, and slide/tissue inventory.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Education and Skills:
BA/BS degree in a scientific discipline with 2-4 years of laboratory experience in the healthcare, biotech/pharmaceutical industry, or MS degree in a scientific discipline with 0-2 years of laboratory experience in the healthcare, biotech/pharmaceutical industry or equivalent.
Experience with necropsy, animal handling, and anatomy highly preferred.
Experience with routine and complex histology procedures such as formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue processes and cryosectioning.
HT/HTL (ASCP) certification is highly preferred.
Ability to execute sample handling and analysis with strict adherence to laboratory methods and SOPs.
Experience in muscle and nerve tissue handling preferred.
Ensures work is performed to technical expectations and in compliance with GLPs.
Highly organized and detail-oriented. Able to participate in multiple studies at a time.
Desire to work in a dynamic, collaborative, fast-paced team environment and make a difference in people's lives through innovative medicines.
Ability to successfully collaborate cross-functionally to organize/track information, prioritize accordingly, and the ability to quickly adjust to shifting priorities and demanding timelines when necessary.
Ability to work extended hours as needed, including but not limited to weekend and holiday coverage, occasionally on short notice.
This position requires work on site at one of Sarepta's facilities in the United States.
The targeted salary range for this position is $64,800 - $81,000 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta's compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
