MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform, adhere to, and implement all Herschend Family Entertainment Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest service operation.
  • Lead a team of 1 to 4 people (depending on the season). Responsible for the supervision of the candy store's processes and its hosts.
  • Help Food and Beverage Management Team develop and monitor a highly motivated, positive, and productive team.
  • Assist in evaluations and training of all candy store hosts.
  • Help implement new policies and procedures when needed.
  • Maintaining accurate record keeping involving employees, including Newport Aquarium awards and recognitions.
  • Handle comments, concerns and suggestions from employees and guests regarding the guest experience.
  • Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests.
  • Work with other team members/departments of Newport Aquarium to ensure effective communication is implemented at all times.
  • Ability and willingness to cross train in other Food and Beverage areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance.
  • On a daily basis ensure that:
    • Responsible for maintaining store cleanliness in accordance with food safety guidelines.
    • Participate in the basic functions of the candy store including, providing professional and courteous customer service, preparing fudge/cotton candy, case etc.
    • Maintain store displays and ensure proper pricing, inventory and ensuring items are in stock.
    • Assisting the guests of Newport Aquarium with questions or comments regarding the candy store and completing cash transactions.
    • Opening and closing procedures are appropriately implemented.
    • Maintaining proper break schedule for team members as prescribed in our employee handbook.
    • Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned by the Food and Beverage Management Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is a plus.
  • Prior cash handling and point of sale experience is a plus.
  • Must have strong public speaking skills the ability to read, write and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages is a plus)
  • Must be able to think clearly, react quickly, and calmly to changes and/or emergency situations
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred. Previous guest service or retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and/or weekends and holidays.
  • ServSafe Certification or Food Service Manager Certification a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time, transition between floors, bend and stoop.
  • Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Note: Position will involve exposure to food allergens, and potentially dangerous machinery. Personal Protective Equipment including clothing or equipment may be required in some areas.
