This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties at Tulsa International Airport on the airfield, perimeter, and Airport property to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, as well as airport rules, policies, and procedures. Starting pay for this non-exempt position is $22.77. Incumbent must be available to work any shift at this 24/7 operation as well as extended hours and call back in the event of weather or emergency.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assures that Tulsa International Airport is effectively operated in a safe and secure manner and in the best interest of the general public by maintaining constant awareness of all facilities and activities on airport property affecting tenants and the general public in accordance with all established rules, regulations and criteria of federal and local governments and other policies.

* Responsible for maintaining compliance with all aspects of the Airport Certification Manual (ACM). Duties include, but are not limited to:

* Operating motorized vehicles for inspections of the airfield identifying all discrepancies, issuing proper notifications, and ensuring a proper resolution.

* Monitor airfield for presence of wildlife and take proper means to eliminate the wildlife hazard.

* Monitor construction and maintenance activity to ensure compliance with Part 139 and Part 77 standards. Represents airport operational interests in regard to airfield construction and maintenance projects in and around the Air Operations Area (AOA). Tasked with opening and closing of pavements and other sections of the airfield.

* Issues appropriate Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and field condition reports.

* Assists with compliance of the Airport Security Program as needed.

* Assists with compliance of the Airport Emergency Plan (AEP). Takes the initial lead for the Operations Division in emergency operations and takes prescribed precautionary measures in case of airside incidents or emergencies. Incorporates and adheres to NIMS/ICS procedures during emergency events.

* Coordinates with Airport Police and TSA with Terminal and airside security breaches (sweeps and contacts proper personnel) and other security incidents. Coordinates with Airport Police, local law enforcement, United States Secret Service and the FBI on matters of security and safety necessary for special events, activities and for the arrival of visiting dignitaries.

* Performs necessary functions during snow and ice control operations.

* Must be available for snow and ice control operations.

* Performs friction testing, prepares field condition reports and disseminates information to tenants and stakeholders in a timely manner. Documents winter event data and summary information.

* Works with airside tenants, landside tenants and Air Traffic Control in coordinating runway and other pavement areas for snow and ice control operations to accommodate tenants' peak operational times, when possible.

* Responsible to monitor winter weather conditions both landside and airside. Uses the airport's pavement sensors information system.

* Reads and monitors weather forecasts and radar data. Initiates pre-storm coordination with other Tulsa International Airport staff.

* Operates the airport's Snow and Ice Control Center (Snow Desk).

* Monitors de-icing activities and ensures that de-icing is taking place in designated areas.

* Represents airport management during certain days and hours of the workweek. Initiates notifications to Building and Field Maintenance when discrepancies, problems and repair issues are identified.

* Perform airfield escorts as necessary.

* Assists Supervisor with airfield training as necessary.

* Reports to work regularly and timely, and performs other tasks as deemed necessary.


Requirements

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in aviation or aerospace administration or management required; previous operations experience a plus.


Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of airport administration and procedures. Considerable knowledge of FAA certification requirements, policies and procedures; 14 CFR Part 77, 139 and TSR 1542 as well as applicable Advisory Circulars and Security Directives. Knowledge of snow removal and ice control operations. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Must be able to work shift work, including weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. Must be able to work overtime. Ability to be on call and respond on a 24-hour basis. Must be flexible with work hours. Crisis management skills. Ability to analyze situations quickly and to determine a proper course of action to be taken in an emergency situation. Ability to plan and coordinate multiple activities occurring simultaneously. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing, applying and interpreting policies and procedures. Ability to identify various aircraft. Ability to become proficient with airport related software applications and training methods. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, representatives of other agencies and the general public. Ability to type, operate computer equipment and use wildlife pyrotechnic devices.


Physical Requirements: Physical requirements include hand and arm steadiness and finger dexterity enough to use a keyboard and telephone; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, occasional carrying up to 20 pounds; occasional pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds; may be subject to walking, standing, balancing, kneeling, bending, handling, feeling, climbing, smelling and twisting; sufficient hand-eye coordination and position mobility in the ankles, knees, hips and back as well as vision, speech and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks.


Licenses and Certifications: Must possess current drivers' license and be able to obtain Oklahoma driver's license. Must successfully complete prescribed airfield certification training. Must successfully complete NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800 within 1 year of appointment. Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.

Working Environment: Working environment is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, with occasional indoor work as necessary.


Firearms and Ammunition: The ability to lawfully possess both firearms and ammunition. Under federal law, it is unlawful for any person who is an unlawful user of any controlled substance as defined by the Controlled Substance Act to possess firearms or ammunition. Marijuana is a controlled substance under federal law, even if used for medical purposes. Individuals who use marijuana, including for medical purposes, cannot lawfully possess firearms and ammunition.


Note:

This classification is a "safety sensitive" position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing and Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Laws. As a "safety sensitive" classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
