Who We Are

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees. As an organization that combines expertise developed from the daily practice of immigration law with a deep commitment to advocacy, RAICES is unique among immigration organizations. We provide a holistic approach to immigrants. RAICES not only assists immigrants in navigating through complicated immigration laws, but we also assist immigrants with social needs through case management and providing assistance with housing. COVID-19 Response

Protecting the health and safety of employees and clients remains essential. We currently practice social distancing and encourage masks in all public areas. RAICES is using a phased-in approach to return staff to resume in-office operations.

This position will require working remotely and in-office at the assigned work location. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.

PLEASE NOTE: All employees are assigned to an office location. The expectation is that you live within the area to commute to and from the office as business or client needs require.

The Individual Gifts Associate is a key member of the digital-first External Affairs team, operationalizing the mid-level giving program ($1,000-$9,999 donations annually from individual supporters). The Associate plays an important role in ensuring the organization, productivity, and donor-centric approach of the department, inclusive of responsibilities that facilitate lasting relationships with supporters, as well as serves an administrative aid function for the Chief External Affairs Officer and Director of Development. This position has access to highly sensitive information concerning personnel, funding, new program development, and organization planning. Strict confidentiality is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Responds to or routes priority or confidential inquiries from external or internal sources with correspondence or other messaging on behalf of the Chief External Affairs Officer (CEAO) and Director of Development;
  • Supports scheduling, logistics, and note-taking, as necessary, for confidential meetings on behalf of the CEAO and Director of Development, including but not limited to meetings concerning funding, personnel, and organization planning matters;
  • Analyzes situations concerning distinguished internal and external stakeholders in consultation with the CEAO and Director of Development and exercises sound judgment in determining appropriate courses of action with a high level of discretion and confidentiality;
  • Collaborates with the Director of Development, to steward mid-level ($1,000 to $9,999) individual and Donor Advised Fund (DAF) donors responsible for approximately $1 million in contributed revenue annually, with a goal to upgrade gifts and retain larger donations year to year;
  • Implements strategies for mid-level donor acquisition, retention, and growth, including Moves Management Plans tracked within CRM;
  • Cultivates and stewards gifts from individuals by maintaining personalized touchpoints with current donors and developing relationships with prospects, ensuring that each active donor and prospect receives at minimum four communications per 12 month cycle;
  • Supports identification of upgrade and legacy gift targets in coordination with fundraising officers;
  • Prepares standard and ongoing internal and external correspondence, email, and reports, including but not limited to budgeted to actual fundraising revenue;
  • Researches information on prospective donors and existing DAFs in our CRM and update records;
  • Conducts supporter stewardship, including facilitation of in-house and third-party digital and hardcopy mailings;
  • Provides administrative and logistical support for select fundraising, volunteer, marketing, and community events;
  • Other reasonable duties as relevant and assigned
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Social Sciences, or other relevant field and
  • 3 years of experience in fundraising at a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience fundraising in a social justice and/or human rights related environment.
  • 2 years of experience Implementing strategies for mid-level donor acquisition, retention, and growth, including Moves Management Plans tracked within CRM.

  • Highly organized with the ability to work collaboratively and autonomously in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment;

  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively, while inspiring and motivating others to achieve common goals; and
  • Willingness to travel, as needed, for meetings and events when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
