Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the recruitment of program participants.
  • Completes program intake and individual assessments based on participants needs, including those that will determine barriers to employment and services needed.
  • Responsible for orienting prospective participants to the Life Path's employment, education and training opportunities and confirm eligibility.
  • Provides services leading to the improved productivity of participants enrolled in the program through interaction with the participant and coordination with the participants supervisor.
  • Will assist individuals in developing Individual Career Plan. The ICP identifies areas of strength, interests, existing competencies, target areas for growth, education and career goals, and support the stabilization needs.
  • Observes, documents, and explains participants work performance and behavior relative to the employability of the participant.
  • Communicates with and serves as a liaison between the participant referral source and employer.
  • Maintain awareness of labor market trends, high demand and high growth occupations, and job availability.
  • Provides coaching to participants, focusing on assessment needs, work habits, interpersonal skills, and other issues impacting work.
  • Provides intervention, as needed in affected area(s) of the participants life, with a main goal of enhancing vocational and career success.
  • Assists participants in locating additional resources needed to help overcome barriers and makes referrals to other agencies as needed on behalf of the participant.
  • Coordinate site visits to prospective employers and provide job retention services through coaching of participants and through ongoing communications with employers.
  • Meets with participant, referral source, and other individuals to discuss performance, progress, and recommendations.
  • Makes referrals to outside agencies as necessary.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with Donated Goods Retail Staff to ensure consistency of service in transitioning participants to employment following successful completion of initial employment.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS from an accredited four-year college or university in Human Services, or closely related field, two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Preferred experience in serving a diverse population of workers to provide vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services or career development/transition, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience in, and/or knowledge of, working with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities required. Excellent written, verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills required.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to provide proof of insurance is required to drive personal vehicle on company business. Additionally, an acceptable motor vehicle record based on Goodwill guidelines is required to drive a company vehicle or transport program participants.
