Job Description

Randolph-Macon College, a private, co-educational liberal arts institution, invites applications for a full-time Information Security Coordinator. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this position will be part of the Information & Technology Services Team responsible for coordinating the identification, remediation, and documentation of a broad range of security events, utilizing existing tools and partnerships together with strong technical and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate current knowledge of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack trends.
  • Configure and operate security tools to optimize alert generation and response efforts.
  • Actively monitor security events and alerts from multiple sources.
  • Investigate suspicious activity and evaluate potential threats.
  • Coordinate incident response, including collaboration and communication with all necessary parties, and any required after-action activities.
  • Maintain effective communication within ITS, with external partners, and the college community.
  • Contribute to cybersecurity awareness and implementation of best practices within the college community.
  • Generate regular reports on security trends, threats, and vulnerabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, cybersecurity or certifications in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • The employee must have experience performing security operations in one or more areas of information technology and demonstrate knowledge of multiple types of potential security risks and how to address them.
  • Must show attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in an ever-changing environment and the ability to work independently.
  • Must have experience representing a group or department in correspondence and conversation with faculty members and senior level staff.
  • Must be a team player, able to develop and implement technical and interpersonal processes and solutions.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Most of the duties of this job are performed in the ITS office and around the college campus. Employee must use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. The normal workweek is 37.5 hours, but this position may require an alternate work schedule to accommodate the needs of the user community and/or the academic calendar. This position is also required to participate in the on-call rotation as scheduled by the department.
