Manage Escanaba mill quality assurance personnel and systems, including inspection, testing and associated work processes. Provide product quality support for mill operating areas along with corporate quality, product and field services groups.

Accountabilities:

* Assure clear, well defined quality processes and procedures are in place along with a robust system to utilize and audit.

* Assure quality testing results and reports are timely and accurate to meet the needs of internal and external customers. Support CTS response to field issues.

* Ensure proper disposition of product leaving the mill.

* Assure all personnel involved in the QA process understand and adhere to mill policies and procedures for safety, quality and productivity.

* Support grade development and other trial initiatives. Provide feedback on quality results.

* Assure quality/product aspects of SAP, Proficy, etc. are supported as needed.

* Maintain archives for quality and product data, samples, complaints, etc.

* Manage Quality department personnel.

* Work with operations and ISO Coordinator to ensure compliance with ISO9001, FDA, and FSSC certifications.


Required Skills

* Bachelor's degree Chemical, Paper, or Quality Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.

* Minimum 5 years experience in mill technical/quality functions with significant exposure to market and product aspects.

* Understanding of customer requirements, end uses and criteria for success relative to Escanaba products. Includes understanding of converting and printing processes.

* Ability to create and drive quality system and training operations folks on those systems.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to diverse audiences.

* Strong leadership aptitude and ability to drive change.

* Ability to maintain effective working relationships with mill personnel, related corporate groups and customers.

* Strong quality aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to apply judgment in the many gray areas regarding quality.

* Competency with standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PI, Proficy, Optivision, Minitab and SAP.

* Familiarity with and ability to utilize LSS tools.

* Ability to work beyond normal work schedule as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities as well as available for evening and weekend on-call duties.


Required Experience

* Strong papermaking aptitude
