Technical Trainer - Milwaukee, WI:

This position owns technical training for Maintenance and MeOp training processes that develop technical mastery and overall employee growth, ultimately improving individual and organizational performance at the General Mills - Milwaukee plant. This role will partner with Maintenance, Operations, and HR leadership to identify training needs and evaluate training effectiveness, while executing on these opportunities. This position enables General Mills - Milwaukee's pursuit of a high-impact learning organization. This position will be compensated at the Intermediate Maintenance level.

Shift hours: *Currently hiring for 1st shift, but needs to be able to work off shifts when needed*

  • 1st shift: 6:30 am to 2:30 pm
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, and weekends and holidays
  • Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Pay:

  • $38.50 per hour starting.

Our site was originally owned by the Gardetto family, who created Gardetto's by using any broken breadsticks leftover in their plant combined with seasonings!   • Execute priorities for each year per alignment with the plant's Learning Leader. Work with Department Managers, Learning Leader, & training coordinators to stay consistent with plant goals and priorities. Execute training processes that support plant's 90-day plan and Master Plan priorities focusing on building technical skills within our MeOp organization.
  • Utilize project management skills to define and meet project milestones, communicate issues and risks in a timely manner, and escalate to leaders as necessary.
  • Understand the philosophies and techniques of adult learning principles and evaluate effectiveness of Maintenance and MeOp training programs, and with appropriate stakeholders develop alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen
  • Partner proactively with functional leaders and/or platform owners to identify Maintenance and MeOp skill requirements and gaps and determine appropriate training plan and resources. Identify Maintenance and MeOp training needs and build support from department managers, TLs and other leadership
  • Educate plant Maintenance and MeOp population via training, coaching, & facilitation. Including monthly assigned cell meetings
  • Work with engineering and operations teams to support project tests trials, and incorporate new training materials as needed
  • Utilize standardized processes for training and training documentation, including processes for new employees, changes in level, and transfers between cells/departments.
  • Own Maintenance and MeOp HOD assessment processes within the pay and progression system. Administer assessments, and effectively track, communicate and manage the assessment process with all stakeholders (employees, TLs, etc.)
  • Notify employees and cell owners of training requirements when they have a change in status (level, department, cell, etc.
  • Develop and manage standardized processes for Maintenance and MeOp training documentation, including processes for documentation management for new employees, changes in level, transfers between cells/departments, terminations, as well as communication to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Track Maintenance and MeOp training progress, maintain accurate records, and effectively communicate data to appropriate stakeholders (including processes for Maintenance and MeOp training records management for new employees, change in Maintenance and MeOp levels, transfers between cells/departments, and terminations). Provide reports periodically and complete audits of information as requested
  • Develop training material catalogue for Learning & Development pillar on Milwaukee portal and ensure that training portal is populated with current usable information, including OPLs, HODs, videos, etc.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) including, but not limited to: Autonomous Maintenance, Why-Why Analysis, Focused Improvements, and 5S
  • Support broader corporate training initiatives and CI tools and apply them to the needs of Milwaukee
  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats such as HODs, PowerPoints, and classroom training
  • Strong teaching and presentation experiences/skills, able to present in front of small or large groups
  • Work with outside vendors (technical schools and/or online resources) to identify and build new technical learning content for Maintenance and MeOp program
  • Support department Reliability Technology initiatives (PDMS, Centerline, CIL, Defect Handling)
  • New employee orientation, including skill tracking book review

What you have to offer:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma manufacturing/production environment is require.
  • Familiarity with production processes and operations; knowledge of CI tools; knowledge of Milwaukee products, information flow and systems a plus. Prior or current MEOP or Maintenance experience. Strong technical and troubleshooting background.
  • The position requires the ability to understand written and spoken English well enough to understand objectives, project instructions, and documents such as work and safety rules, procedure manuals, and technical information about learning systems. Ability to communicate problems and directions clearly to co-workers and manager.
  • Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ability to learn and become proficient in additional software as necessary
  • Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices or procedures to: Define the problem or objective. Identify relevant concerns or factors. Formulate logical and objective conclusions. Recognize alternatives and their implications. Determine the time, place and sequence of actions to be taken after end goal or outcome is established.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
