Description

The Division of Cardiology in The Heart Institute at Stony Brook University Hospital is recruiting full-time academic (Assistant or Associate or Full Professor levels) Non-invasive imaging cardiologists to serve a population of 1.5 million people at the largest academic hospital in Suffolk County, New York.

The successful applicant will become an integral part of a highly collegial, innovative, and award-winning faculty committed to outstanding patient care; excellence in the mentoring and teaching of a large cardiology fellow program with support to establish or participate in translational/clinical/basic science research. The program benefits from excellent inpatient and outpatient volumes and is a national leader (Top 100) in cardiovascular disease outcomes.

The nationally recognized, high quality, high-volume non-invasive imaging program is under the leadership of Smadar Kort, M.D.

  • The successful applicant will enjoy a balance of outpatient and inpatient clinical care responsibilities and the opportunity to participate in a full spectrum (echocardiography, nuclear, CT and/or MRI) state-of-the-art imaging modalities as part of IAC accredited echocardiography and nuclear laboratories.
  • Applicants should be board-certified/eligible in cardiovascular disease with at least level II training in echocardiography, proficiency in TEE and imaging experience/aspirations for structural heart procedures.
  • The program supports programs of excellence in structural heart disease, cardio-oncology, adult congenital heart disease, cardio-obstetrics, cardiac surgery, sports cardiology, service to underserved populations a Lipid/Cholesterol Center and a second opinion program in advanced cardiac disease.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MD, DO or MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent). Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Board certified/eligible in Cardiovascular Disease and eligible/certified by the National Board of Echocardiography. Minimum of level 2 training in echocardiography (including TTE, TEE, 3D and stress echo). Excellence in clinical care and teaching in cardiology (inpatient and outpatient).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior support of TAVR, structural mitral and intraoperative echocardiography and LAA occlusion devices are desirable. Clinical, translation or basic research experience. Opportunities to read nuclear studies if nuclear license present.
