The MRI Supervisor oversees day to day operations of MRI in Radiology including patient flow and quality assurance. This role is responsible for monitoring exams and/or CR images, assuring high quality following established departmental and QA protocols using independent judgment and initiative. This position provides input back and data relative to staff regarding individual exam and/or image for QA purposes. The Supervisor performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures which meet the department's standard of quality as required. The successful candidate is capable of organizing work priorities and adjusting as circumstances requires. This position demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary of assigned modality to provide exams or imaging services to the developmental ages of patients from newborn to adult. They possess the ability to assess and interpret appropriate data relative to age and to provide care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring/firing, scheduling, performance evaluations, quality reviews, timecard reconciliations, staff education, coaching, development, support and promotion of customer relations, and monitoring of activities to ensure performance standards are achieved.

1.Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and provides education to students and MRI Technologists emphasizing responsibilities related to analysis of information/ patient education, communication, documentation, patient care and safety.
a.Familiar with and provides education on diagnostic quality exams using professional judgment, utilizing department standards and Radiologists protocols.


2.Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to professional leadership practice.
.Ensures work flow. Facilitates patient care according to scheduled exam times and inform front desk of any wait times / delays. Develops plan of action to reduce waiting times for scheduled cases, add-on exams, inpatients and ER cases and communicates with front desk to keep these times minimal.
a.Makes service calls for equipment malfunctions when necessary. Provides follow-up to ensure that equipment is fixed appropriately and in a timely manner.
b.Assures room check off sheets are complete daily as necessary.
c.Develops and adheres to their department goals, revising annually. Submit to department manager annually (First week in January)
d.Responsible for department educational staff meetings to include correct membership, agenda sent out prior to meeting, develop annual meeting schedule and provide meeting minutes.
e.Daily assesses that procedures, services and environmental conditions meet guidelines. Completes Joint Commission & State inspection rounds and education to staff. Ensures safe working conditions and takes corrective action as required.
f.Resolves conflicts and provides timely documentation. Coaches team members for success. Ensures performance accountability with staff.
g.Maintains communication with operations manager on daily issues and concerns. Provides recommendations and solutions. Press Ganey - actively pursues improving customer service standards; Demonstrates and assures staff & students contribute to the customization of Imaging Services practices. Uses Press Ganey suggestion improvement plans.
h.Updates and maintains personnel binders on a semiannual basis.
i.Accurate completion of all payroll functions within specified timeframes. Assures Kronos compliance. Assigns and assures lunch/breaks are monitored. Monitors payroll compliance.
j.Participates in completing introductory and annual performance reviews within specified time frames.
k.Provides feedback and participates in interviewing process.
l.Develops staff work and call schedules. Approves or denies all vacation requests. Tracks unscheduled absences


3.Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to quality documentation audits and education plan.
.Performs QA based on established protocols. Submits ongoing QA/QC reports within specified timeframes set by director or manager.
a.Provides timely, concise, accurate, and complete documentation per department timeframes with educational action plans.


4.Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to orientation and preceptor responsibilities.
.Actively completes orientation schedule, packets and training of staff and provides lockers for students. Orientates staff with the lay-out of WDH and the Radiology Department. Monitors and evaluates orientation guidelines. Completes schedules and programs.
a.Provides oversight of the staff & students' knowledge, problem solving skills and clinical competency in performing radiographic exams. Provides oversight to the preceptors to develop and maintain teaching files, complete a weekly student performance updates on Trajecsys, complete a student evaluation form at mid and final semester.
b.Provides a positive role model for MRI Technology profession by exhibiting a professional attitude toward students, peers, staff, co-workers and daily operations. Creates an environment conducive to learning.


5.Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to patient care and safety.
.Uses cognitive skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
a.Intravenous therapy, administers and monitors intravenous fluids and contrast media.
b.Uses independent judgment during diagnostic exams to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Analyzes images, synthesizes images information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
c.MRI Safety: Uses current safety guidelines put forth by the ACR. Ensures all technologists, visitors and patients remain safe at all times.


6.Professional Performance Standards - Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to professional/ Technical performance (processing data into RIS, PACS and Radiology equipment.
.Monitors staff and students to assure accurate input of patient data in RIS & PACS. Audits for compliance and submits action plans. Monitors staff and students. Reviews as necessary for daily operations. Provides follow up and educational action plans. Assures staff compliance.
a.Understand/ monitors the need to properly associate correct accession number to the study,. Assures staff compliance. Queries/ searches for patient / exam from work stations. Merges studies when appropriate. Prints images and CD burning. Completes functions of super user to include training of staff, students, trouble shoot, and assist Radiologists.
b.Ability to perform MRI procedures. Proficient with all MRI equipment.

Qualifications

Experience Minimum Required
* 3+ years experience

Experience Preferred/Desired
* Multi-modality technologist

Education Minimum Required
* Graduate from an approved radiology training program.
* Certified MRI technologist

Education Preferred/Desired
* BS Degree

Training Minimum Required
* IV certification within 6 months of hire

Special Skills Minimum Required
* Supervises daily operations of MRI workflow. Works alongside technologists administering patient care and serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to students and staff as well as assists management with educational & supervisory responsibilities. Technical skills: QC Participant, Preceptor, Basic Word, Excel,
IV Certification w/in 6 mos of hire

Licensure and/or Certifications Required
* NH Medical Imaging MRI License
BLS w/in 3 months of hire
ARRT (MR)
