Banker Development Program Description:

The Banker Development Program (BDP) is an Entry Level Position for recent college graduates and early professionals looking to grow their career in the finance industry.

The Banker Development Program at Zions Bank is a 12-18-month training program designed to develop the future leaders of the banking industry into well-rounded professionals with strong analytical and relationship management skills. The program provides challenging training and career guidance that prepare participants for various leadership opportunities at Zions Bank.

There are two phases of the Banker Development Program: 1) Training Phase, and 2) Rotational Phase.

Training Phase

The training phase uses a classroom-based approach to facilitate learning. Participants receive professional development and extensive credit training on topics such as financial accounting and analysis, cash flow analysis, credit analysis, and risk management.

In addition to the classroom training, Banker Development Program Analysts participate in:

* Case studies and discussion sessions to review concepts introduced in self-study materials

* Training to perform credit underwriting according to bank policy

* Bank compliance and regulatory training courses

* Introductions to Zions Bancorporation executives and Zions Bank Business-Line executives

Rotational Phase

The primary objective of the rotational phase is to gain on-the-job training through a structured rotation system. Banker Development Program Analysts are assigned to specific lending groups for a series of 3 rotations that last approximately 10 weeks each, as well as 2 rotations through our Middle Office and Loan Servicing teams. During these rotations, the credit analysts gain in-depth exposure and perform all analytical work required for their assigned business line.

Potential business line rotation opportunities are listed below:

  • Commercial Lending
  • Corporate Lending
  • Real Estate Banking Group
  • Private Banking
  • Community Banking

Participants who successfully complete the Banker Development Program can anticipate an exciting career path. Upon completion of the training and rotational phases, participants will be considered for promotion into officer roles within the bank's lending or credit business lines. Business line rotation assignments vary depending on region, availability, and analysts' goals and skill sets.

The Banker Development Program offers:

  • Exposure to the extensive career opportunities at Zions Bank
  • A solid foundation in the basics of banking and credit
  • A defined career path that begins with classroom training as a credit analyst and evolves into an underwriting/officer role in one of the bank's lending and credit divisions.

  • Opportunity to apply finance and accounting skills to credit and business risk analysis
