Job Description

Realizing the tremendous opportunity available in the North American Municipal Water & Wastewater channel, this transformation has placed increased focus on the importance of the successful execution of a channel strategy.

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for developing and strengthening customer relationships while maximizing sales within the Western portion of North America in the Municipal Water & Wastewater Markets.


This position is accountable for achieving the Regional sales and profitability goals.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Develop and sustain a sales plan for region which meets or exceeds targets.
  • Responsible for the Region's forecasting and reports used to conduct business.
  • Grow End User, Distribution, OEM, and System Integrator business.
  • Lead Account/Market plans to grow profitable business.
  • Proactively work with Sales Representatives and Distribution to deploy sales strategies.
  • Excel within a matrixed, multinational sales organization to coordinate projects that include: quoting, submitting, manufacture, installation, and service.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of sales opportunities that supports exceeding target sales Quotas.
  • Become Danfoss Drives subject matter expert for your region and remain current as new solutions and products are released.
  • Lead and facilitate on site customer product training.
  • Develop strong ties with key accounts and be proactive in understanding the trends and issues likely to impact the market.
  • Travel within the region with up to 50% overnight
Background & Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field, Electrical background a plus.
  • 5+ Years relevant experience with variable speed drives and/or automation.
  • Experience demonstrating a solid track record of meeting aggressive sales objectives.
  • Experience with all facets of building and executing successful sales plans.
  • Advanced strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, with the ability to deliver presentations in both small and large group environments.
  • Ability to write reports, recommendations, proposals, and other documents for executive business management.
  • Must be able to work independently with time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software applications for sales management. Computer proficiency in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word applications is required. Microsoft Teams is a plus.
  • Deep motivation to make positive contributions to the team and business.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of VFD and applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Municipal Water & Wastewater markets.
  • Strong knowledge of Consulting Engineers role & responsibility in the Bid & Spec process
  • Extensive knowledge about the market within assigned territory.
  • Excellent business Acumen.
  • Ability to gain strong product and product positioning knowledge.
  • Experience developing a Channel Partner network.
