Machine Operator - Grinder - Experienced

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Machine Operator in our Grinding department. In this role you will operate all types of Grinding machines to perform simple set up and diversified operations to produce parts for electro-mechanical actuation systems. You would be working the day shift, Monday - Friday, 6am - 2:30pm, with overtime available.

In this role, you would typically:
  • Set-up, adjust and operate all types of grinding machines to perform a diversified line of close tolerance work requiring a high degree of skill and technique.
  • Change gears and sets helix angles for wide range of operations.
  • Check and aligns work in machines, dresses wheels and allows for operating factors affecting dimensions and finish.
  • Perform first piece inspection and records results
  • Verify accuracy of machined parts as per blueprint or work instructions
  • May troubleshoot problems that may arise during machining operations with tools, fixtures or programs
  • Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments for setups and to check work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance work on machines, tools and test equipment.

We require:
  • 5 years' experience setting up and operating manual cylindrical and CNC grinding equipment
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 format blueprints
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

We would really like to see:
  • Ability to read blueprints and use conventional bench measuring equipment
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to read, understand and follow all manufacturing procedures
  • Knowledge of grinding practices and finish requirements
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Within commuting distance of Whippany or willing to relocate self as relocation assistance is not available

Physical Requirements Include:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to transport items to other work centers throughout the facility
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
  • Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
  • Requires ability to stand for long periods of time
