This remote role is not tightly linked to a physical location and provides flexibility in where, when and how you accomplish your work.Remote employees are expected to have a dedicated, quiet and distraction-free work space and an internet connection that's sufficient for completing their job remotely.

Job Summary

The General Manager, U.S. Sales is a highly visible leadership role with overall responsibility for developing strategic sales; plans and coaching US Sales leaders to improve front-line and Dealer effectiveness and ultimately drive targeted performance and associated profitability. The GM is accountable for achieving strategic growth and sales objectives/targets including market share and revenue with the goal of increasing profit and ridership for Harley-Davidson. Additionally, this role is accountable for short and long-term plans on how the US market team will influence and drive performance in the Dealer network to achieve stated strategic objectives. The GM will create a culture of high performance and develop a team with expertise to increase dealer profitability and enhance the Company and dealer relationships. Collaboration and strong cross-functional relationships with other US Sales functions, marketing, and service, among others, are imperative to deliver Harley-Davidson's strategic imperatives focused on increasing ridership and contributing to strong dealer performance and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a point of contact and trusted source of knowledge of the North American market, providing accurate information, clear points of view and reporting to a broad market and regional stakeholder group, ranging from short term/tactical needs up to long term product / price / promotion input.
  • Lead and enable the Field Sales Team to work effectively and collaboratively by developing necessary leadership behaviors, skill sets and competencies.
  • Create accountability with direct team and dealer network to identify varying priorities within key markets.
  • Leverage knowledge, experience, and proven methods to assist the Field Sales Team with planning, growing the Harley-Davidson Brand, and operating in a sustainable way to drive performance for the offering of products and services in North America. Engage dealers as necessary to ensure optimal responsiveness from the Field Sales team.
  • Strong financial acumen desired specifically surrounding dealer operations and financial statements and composites.

Bachelor's Degree Mandatory, MBA preferred.

Experience Requirements

Required

  • Typically requires a minimum of 15 years related experience, minimum of 5 years of management experience.
  • Extensive and proven track record in sales, operations, and/or business management.
  • Proven leadership skills, managing and directing high performing teams and functional leaders to achieve results.
  • Proven record of establishing solid, achievable business plans focused on retail development and growth, operational excellence and leadership development in support of company objectives.
  • Frequent travel required.


Preferred

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of automotive and motorcycle distribution in the US and Canada.
  • Experience with dealer networks, training, incentive strategies and marketing.

  • Demand Generation & Field Support: You anticipate long-term target market purchasing behaviors and align this with business vision and strategy. You conduct market scans to identify barriers and opportunities for demand generating programs and initiatives. You combine your expert knowledge of sales techniques, marketing and promotions, and market insight to support overall performance.
  • Data Analysis: You demonstrate an advanced understanding of metrics and select relevant/insightful metrics to drive team performance. You can draw insight from metrics and use this information effectively to deliver initiatives. You use metrics and data as key rationale for business decisions and are able to explain data insights in a compelling way. You incorporate data and insights from multiple sources to tell a meaningful story and develop actionable recommendations.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
