Job Description:

The purpose of the Senior Control Clerk in Accounting depends on the departmental requirements listed under the essential job functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Verify data for the computer processing of all on-line systems (i.e. customer billing and general accounting systems).

  • Perform miscellaneous and special data entry projects.

  • Review payments from all external sources that all payments are posted correctly to Customer Billing System.

  • Run audit cash report for accounting use.

  • Manually Process Electronic Fund Transfer to Customer Billing System daily.

  • Return and inform the banks regarding payments received through Home Banking platform.

  • Communicate with financial agencies regarding payments remitted to the bank and create adjustments.

  • Create billing adjustments to Customer Billing System.

  • Process customer return payments through various channels.

  • Communicate with districts on matters pertaining to balancing of records.

  • Provide assistance to both internal and external customers.

  • Balance daily portal variances through various payment channels.

  • Maintain and record daily portal variances from electronic payment system for SOX purposes.

  • Handle daily worklist in Customer Billing System and research and resolve any account issues.

  • Correct payment errors and maintain all suspense accounts on a daily basis.

  • Responsible for Month End Process.

  • Communicate with Accounting regarding discrepancies in the general ledger, research, and correct variances.

  • Assist districts with customer refund adjustments and void check requests.

  • Process escheatment documents in accordance with procedures.

  • Research payments inquiries requests.

  • Responsible for resolving customer payment issues in cash remittance.

  • Maintain and record data pertaining to balancing of data files.

  • Responsible for providing support documents for internal and external auditors'' selections.

  • Communicate with Business Partners to update Training and Procedures (TAP) for processes pertaining to Cash Remittance.

  • Fulfill business process tasks in accordance with internal control requirements and SOX narratives.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 3-5 years' experience of cash application.

  • Excellent communication skills and customer service.

  • Prioritize routine tasks simultaneously to meet business demands and attention to detail is required.

  • Familiarity with customer billing system.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Salary Range: $38.83 - $48.52
