Key Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Design electrical systems, components, facilities, and products.
  • Engage with customers to gather essential information and review engineering designs.
  • Interpret and ensure adherence to operational policies and procedures.
  • Oversee operations to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and testing align with functional specifications and customer needs.
  • Coordinate and oversee the operation, upkeep, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
  • Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams including Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Engineer Interns, Operations, Production, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure project cohesion.
  • Implement electrical testing methodologies in coordination with Quality Control to ensure product quality; evaluate finished products and system performance.
  • Verify product adherence to third-party specifications, expectations, and standards.
  • Provide engineering support for projects, offering design, analysis, and studies.
  • Conduct power factor analysis and correction, harmonic modeling and analysis, and grounding assessments.
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement Process Solution (CIPS) tools and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated with professional and technical advancements through participation in educational workshops, publication reviews, networking, and involvement in professional societies.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive expertise in control system design encompassing transformers, MV switchgear, PLCs, VFDs, programming, panel layout, component selection, testing, and modifications.
  • Proficiency in low, medium, and high voltage systems up to 500 kV.
  • Preferably a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license desirable, or actively pursuing.
  • Strong background in executing protective relay projects highly favored.
  • Ability to be hands-on and work in the field alongside our technicians.
  • Additional experience in short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, arc-flash mitigation, and power quality assessments is advantageous.
  • Utility design experience is beneficial.
  • Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD; familiarity with AutoCAD Electric and SolidWorks is advantageous.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of creating, interpreting, or revising layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Flexible and willing to travel throughout the region as necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and oversee projects as required.
