Position Summary:

Provides programmatic and administrative support to the Vice President, Political Programs and coordinates political program events. Manages the day-to-day meeting and travel schedules of the Vice President. Schedules meetings with internal and external parties, drafts and proofreads correspondence, processes expense reimbursements and invoices. Under guidance, develops and maintains relationships with political fundraisers to coordinate and manage events for America's Electric Cooperatives PAC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Political Programs work unit operational and administrative needs. Provides administrative support to the Vice President, including managing meetings schedule and calendar, coordinating travel schedule and arrangements, scheduling meetings with internal and external parties, drafting and proofreading correspondence, processing invoices and expense reimbursements, and completing other administrative tasks as required.
  • Under direction, develops relationships with key contacts for political fundraisers to coordinate and manage events for America's Electric Cooperatives PAC and conducts outreach as appropriate. At the direction of the PAC Director, schedules and organizes logistics for and attends PAC-hosted events and candidate meet and greets.
  • Coordinates daily administrative and operational projects for the Political Programs team, to include managing calendars for meetings and travel, scheduling travel arrangements, and preparing and submitting expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates unit meetings with internal and external audiences. Prepares agendas, coordinates logistics, (meetings rooms, food and beverage, AV) and ensures appropriate attendance.
  • Under guidance, develops draft presentations for meetings. Edits and refines PowerPoint presentations and handouts for meetings and assembles materials to be distributed.
  • Maintains and manages documentation of Political Programs presentations and materials, ensuring that team materials remain organized and current.
  • Reviews and edits advocacy content including email blasts, social media posts, calls-to-action, letters, and digital advertisements. Provides initial review for the Political Programs team of organic social media uploaded to the Sprout Social platform.
  • Assists the Grassroots Senior Manager with advocacy website maintenance and updates.
  • Helps plan the Good Government Golf Fund program and coordinates onsite logistics for the event.

Qualifications

Formal Education Required:

College degree preferred, and high school diploma required. Years of experience can be substituted for college degree.

Experience and Certifications Required:

2+ years of work experience with progressive levels of responsibility.

1+ year of experience in government relations, public affairs or issue advocacy.

Political campaign, Capitol Hill or grassroots experience required..

  • Ability to perform and work on multiple tasks while being flexible and able to cope with changing conditions/policies/procedures in a fast-paced and sometimes intense working environment, while staying productive and maintaining a high level of accuracy.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills and knowledge of grammar rules.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) and other tools, including but limited to NetForum, Sharepoint and Workday, in the day-to-day essential duties of the job.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner.
  • Ability to provide service excellence by building relationships, being resourceful, responsive and respectful.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
