Overview

This position drives the development of cost-effective applications that address business needs while aligning with the Bank's long-term technology goals. Determines the needs of assigned business areas through partnership and strategic collaboration. Translates needs into functional projects and technological solutions. Oversees projects to produce effective results and to maximize the return on investment. Manages an annual budget, including forecasting, and develops a strong associate team. Ensures that short-term results lead to the achievement of long-term strategic objectives through personal leadership, direction, and technical expertise.

The Director of Application Development and Suport will lead and manage technology teams who are building world class digital and mobile applications.

You will serve as a part of digital technology team and work closely with the Product leadership team to drive overall product delivery. You will collaborate closely with teams across the organization to provide strategic direction and guidance related to the expanding and rapidly evolving digital landscape within specific domain areas.

This role is remote eligible.


Responsibilities

  • Lead teams building client facing online banking and mobile applications
    • Must have experience building Responsive Mobile, Online Applications and API's using a developer platform and automated dev/ops capabilities
    • Experience of software development using Java, Springboot and UI JavaScript frameworks like React JS, Angular JS
    • Must have experience building microservices and deploying using CI/CD pipeline
    • Exposure to Swagger and Open API banking specifications
  • Lead a team of 20+ to 60+ talented software engineers, in multiple geographic locations
  • Ensure team delivers with high quality and predictability
  • Partner with Product managers and Delivery management in developing technology vision and delivery roadmap for Digital Services
  • Proactively champion the prioritization, management, planning and road mapping for reliability, scalability, security and extensibility with respect to a technical solution.
  • Partner closely with peer engineering and cybersecurity leaders to ensure we operate as a single team in delivering technology excellence for our client facing solutions
  • Mentor people inside/outside of the Software Engineering team on best practices, system design principles, and computing industry trends
  • Articulate the tradeoffs at the application, system, and department level to the internal customer in a credible way during the whole lifecycle of the technology adoption through to decommission.
  • Nurture strong risk management, compliance, solution ownership and pride of ownership within the team in the software delivery process
  • Continuously demonstrate the ability to bring the benefits of technology to solve business issues while also managing costs and risks

Job Overview:

  • Expertise with MFA authentication mechanisms and industry/technology advancements and trends
  • Experience with enterprise architecture best practices, specifically in application, infrastructure and web/mobile application security
  • Operationally Focused: Passionate about monitoring, resiliency, uptime, performance and automation as well as security
  • Deep understanding and experience working with DevSecOps
  • Experience working with teams across multiple locations. Distributed office working experience with a US headquarters
  • Familiarity with business process management and data-driven workflows
  • Excellent technical abilities with strong business, organizational and analytical skills
  • Skilled at identifying and evaluating new technological developments and gauging their appropriateness for the business
  • Ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple IT projects on time and within budget

The base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $142,500 to $252,200 per year. For California, the range is generally $174,625 - $267,758 per year. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Information Technology including application development, support roles, and management. OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Information Technology including application development, support roles, and management.

Preferred Area of Experience: Financial services with Integration of third party solutions in on premise and cloud environment

License or Certification Type: Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Agile Project Manager IAPM, PMI-ACP

Preferred Skills:

  • 15+ years experience in an engineering management and technology strategy leadership role
  • 10+ years experience leading, growing and building a large engineering team, minimum 20+ people
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Cybersecurity certifications - i.e. CCSP/CISSP
  • Expertise/certifications with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform
  • Involvement in at least one end to end cloud migration project preferred
