The Field Service Technician (FST) Co-Op Program in Sarasota, Orlando, St. Petersburg, and Plantation,FL offers an incredible opportunity for passionate individuals with no/minimal work experience to learn andgrow.

As an FST Co-Op, you will work directly alongside skilled and experienced technical leaders in theorganization, gaining hands-on experience in the field. Through the FST Co-Op Program, you will develop aunique skill set in both multi-site RF communications systems and computer/networking skills. Thiscombination of knowledge will allow you to make a valuable contribution to the Public Safety customers in theassigned area. We are looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn and can thrive in high-pressuresituations. As an FST Co-Op, you will have the chance to solve customer problems quickly and effectively,even in stressful scenarios. This will help you develop your problem-solving skills and build resilience.

Throughout the co-op, you will work closely with Motorola Solutions' Public Safety Customers and theSubcontractor (MSS) community. You will also collaborate with teams from Sales, Engineering, ProjectManagement, and Customer Service. This will give you exposure to various areas of the organization andallow you to develop a well-rounded understanding of the industry.

  • In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow while contributing to important field activities. Your academic principles gained from courses will be put into practice in a dynamic professional environment.

  • As part of the team, you will provide valuable technical support for specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications. This hands-on experience will allow you to develop a deep understanding of these systems and their real-world applications.

  • You will also play a crucial role in maintaining and documenting complex communications systems. This will give you firsthand experience in system maintenance and documentation best practices.

  • Your contributions will be recognized through weekly reports, allowing you to showcase your activities and accomplishments. This will help you sharpen your communication skills and highlight your achievements.

  • Additionally, you will have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions to challenging technical problems. This problem-solving experience will enhance your critical thinking abilities and help you develop creative approaches to system maintenance, upgrades, and support.

Preferred Candidate Knowledge/Experience:

  • Currently pursuing certifications in Security+, Network+, CCNA, or NRS1

  • Understanding of wired communications systems, like local area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN)

  • Ability to install, configure, and maintain computer networks, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.

  • Familiarity with R.F. interfaces and systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.

  • Knowledge of standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.

  • Understanding of logging recording systems.

During the Co-Op Program, you will gain hands-on experience with the following equipment:

  • Motorola Base Stations (STR series, GTR series, etc.)

  • Centracom Consoles (Gold Elite, MCC7500, MCC7100)

  • Computer IP Networks and Configuration

  • Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies, including Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment

The Co-Op Program will also provide you with technical skills in using various communicationstest equipment, such as:

  • Communication System Analyzers

  • Ethernet Link test sets

  • TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set)

  • Digital RF Power Meter

  • Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, Centracom, and MCC Console systems, Secure Operations, and ASTRO A7.x - A20.x Digital systems and installation procedures.

  • Must be a current student attending a 2 year program or a 4 year program at a college, university, or technical school

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.

  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
