We have an exciting new opportunity to join Symetra as a Sr. Software Engineer I.

About the role

As the Senior Software Engineer I you will tackle sophisticated business needs by delivering quality code with minimal mentorship and supervision. You will contribute to design elements, leverage engineering standard methodologies, and elevate team processes. You should be an excellent problem solver and provide mentorship to junior engineers within the team as needed.

What you will do

  • Write efficient, reliable, maintainable, and defect-free code. Design, implement, test, and deliver highly scalable systems, services, and API's.
  • Participate and supply to software development practices such as design spec and code review.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to craft and implement scalable and efficient cloud solutions.
  • Use automated CI/CD pipelines to deploy software packages in a DevOps environment.
  • Collaborate with various team members and stakeholders on requirements definition and feature design and development.
  • Author clear technical documentation for the work.

Compensation

Salary Range: $100,300 - $167,100 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.

Who you are
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or other related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of software development experience as an engineer in an agile environment with excellent design, problem solving, debugging skills and DevOps.
  • 3+ years of hands-on coding experience in Angular, React or any other equivalent library/framework.
  • 2+ years of hands-on coding experience in Python.
  • Strong familiarity of JavaScript/Typescript.
  • Acquainted with testing tools and platforms, such as Cucumber, Cypress, Selenium, and Postman
  • Understand OpenAPI specifications, Swagger, and SQL/No-SQL databases.
  • Good comprehension of various Gateways (API, ApiGee), reverse proxy, MFA, tokenization, SSL, OAUTH, SAML protocols, and app authentications.
  • Familiar with AuthN and AuthZ protocol, architecture, and concepts.
  • Experience with AWS Fargate, AWS RDS, Route 53, ACM, Security groups and Cloud formation is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with OIDC and OAuth IDPs, preferred.
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high quality results.
  • Superb communication skills with technical and non-technical peers with a customer focus.
