Programmer/Analyst II- Java/RPG Developer

Location: Remote

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM

Location: Hybrid/Remote

What work will you perform?

Landstar is looking for a Java/RPG Developer to join the Operations Application Development team. This person will play a pivotal role in crafting innovative solutions for the transportation industry. We are seeking an individual with a deep understanding of Java (JSF) and RPG development

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work within a collaborative team environment to design, develop, test, configure, deploy, and support technology solutions that meet business needs and adhere to department standards of design, quality, security, performance, automation, and low maintenance solutions.
  • Partner with product owners, business analysts, and other IT personnel to determine end-user needs.
  • Assist users by analyzing complex logic and communicating with the business using non-technical language.
  • Produce knowledge base documentation for the ongoing support of technology solutions.
  • Troubleshoot operational problems and restore to normal condition.
  • Maintain a 24/7 state of operational readiness and be available for regularly scheduled on-call days.
  • Participate in requirements, story refinement, design, and code reviews.
  • Participate as an active learner of new technologies as introduced into the technology stack.
  • Research, initiate, and lead execution of process and technical improvements.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years' experience in Java Development, specifically with Java Server Faces.
  • 5 years' experience in RPG Development

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree
  • Transportation industry experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Mastery of IBMi systems environment at senior level.
  • Mastery of IBMi RPG development language and business application software development.
  • Mastery of IBMi legacy data files, logical files, and DB2 SQL database tables.
  • Mastery of integrating the IBMi environment with other platforms.
  • Proficient in Java applications running on IBM WebSphere
  • Proficient in Stored Procedures, Restful API's, JSON, Soap services, XML, and modern development tools
  • Knowledge of common source control for RPG and Java build tools; Azure DevOps, Maven, and GIT preferred.
  • Other duties as assigned.
