JOB TITLE:
Apprentice HSE Practitioner
SITUATION IN ORGANISATION (enclose a copy of your organisation chart)
* Reporting to UK HSE Manager
* Direct reports: none
* Matrix relationship to UK HSE Team as required (Stafford, Leicester, and Arklow (Eire)) and plant managers.
JOB DIMENSIONS
* To assist the UK HSE Manager, UK and Ireland HSE Team and key internal stakeholders with respects to the coordination and administration of Health, Safety and Environmental Management whilst becoming trained to the standards of a junior HSE professional and proficient in maintaining Bostik's excellent HSE culture and performance.
* Maintain excellent relationships with all employees, plant managers, regulators and other key HSE stakeholders.
* All UK sites and occasionally Eire as required.
ACTIVITIES
* Obtain necessary HSE and assisting qualifications, e.g., business administration, IT and specialisms, as apprenticeship progresses.
* Maintain the document control of HSE documents and UK risk assessments and inform relevant site HSE Practitioners of forthcoming renewals.
* Conduct recording and analysis of behavioural safety observation reports (CARES), SMART-cards and STOP forms.
* Assist the Stafford HSE Team with simple plant checks and HSE monitoring.
* Assist the UK HSE Team with occupational exposure measurements and environmental emissions analysis.
* Become a trained environmental auditor and assist with internal audit programme.
* Perform first draft reports to Bostik's recycling partner for subsequent validation by UK HSE Manager.
* Perform and record low-risk risk assessments.
* Draft Work Instructions for low-risk activities requiring operational control.
* Assist the UK HSE Manager with compliance determinations and Environmental Compliance Checks.
* Produce minutes of important HSE meetings, e.g., HSE committee, meetings with regulators
* Maintain Event Report Database and assist with action management.
* Assist with near miss, incident, and injury investigations.
* Become a first aider and maintain Stafford site first aid arrangements.
* Maintain UK waste and energy sustainability data.
* Perform other similar HSE and administration activities to the above as arising and required by UK HSE Team.

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
The role is Stafford based but may involve very occasional travel to other UK sites with other members of the UK HSE Team and hence also in line with the above activities there is a need to be sufficiently physically mobile.
There will be the need to work with many persons across the Bostik organisation, in person or remotely. Bostik is a safety critical environment and so there will be the need to act diligently and correctly at all times and commit to undertaking a modern apprenticeship with college and other external learning.

To show motivation and success in helping maintain a positive HSE culture and better levels or HSE performance across the Bostik Uk and Ireland C&C sites.
To conduct the above open-mindedly yet diligently and productively.
To work carefully and with sensitivity.
To be of such caliber that post -apprenticeship they are likely to be retained by Bostik in a critical role.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Essential
The candidate should be reasonably outgoing and a careful listener with prior work-life experience so as to demonstrate communication skills. The candidate needs to be self-motivated and reliant and able to maintain effective relationships with co-workers and stakeholders. A minimum of 5 GCSE's including good passes in English, Maths and Science
Desirable
Preference may be given to those who have science A 'levels or a HND in chemistry or a physical science
