Overview

SMS is seeking a Jr. Network Specialist to support our mission at the 61 CS BOS at LA Air Force base. Position requires experience in operating, maintaining and deploying voice and IP data networks within medium to large campus environments.

Responsibilities
    Troubleshoot network & system technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
  • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
  • Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
  • Serve as the primary and alternate LRA for LAAFB and use Remedy to track LRA requests

Qualifications
  • Must be able to configure/setup router/switch configurations, design/configure routing protocols, and set up IP subnet schemes.
  • Must be comfortable with network & system administration duties
  • Have knowledge of and experience in working with DoD IA and Cybersecurity practices, policies as they apply to data network and voice technologies.
  • Requires experience in operating, maintaining and deploying voice and IP data networks within medium to large campus environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work independently as required.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Requires IAT II certification - Most common is CompTIA Security+CE
