Position Summary

We are looking for you to join the Kinesso team as a Manager, Data Engineering in our Data & Technology group. This person will be responsible for participating in the design, implementation, and maintenance of an agile reporting and database system, that is able to support an enterprise that has large data sets and requirements for custom reporting with quick turnaround times.

As a leader of the team, you will be expected to establish working partnerships with various groups across the enterprise including technology & business groups as well as outside customers, suppliers and vendors. The technologies you will be expected to work with involve both legacy systems as well as modern cloud-based services so you will be expected to learn new technologies and concepts very quickly. This is a hybrid role consisting of both management and hands on data engineering. A commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and quality product is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, test, and maintain data architectures in Snowflake using Python, SQL, and modern data orchestration frameworks to deliver on business requirements.
  • Uphold data quality standards, implementing tools and frameworks to detect and rectify data inconsistencies and inaccuracies.
  • Lead initiatives for data collection and processing to enhance accuracy and reliability.
  • Optimize pipelines and data structures to ensure peak performance.
  • Lead by example, provide guidance mentorship and support in data engineering best practices.
  • Identify resolve bottlenecks by refactoring code and/or modifying flows.
  • Create and evaluate the data needs of the assigned projects and ensure the integrity of the data
  • Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to understand requirements and to ensure alignment on business objectives
  • Troubleshoot existing ETL pipelines and work with partners to resolve them in a timely manner
  • Develop and update technical documentation
  • Manage conflicting priorities and multiple projects concurrently

Required Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years working in data engineering.
  • 1+ year of leading a team
  • Familiarity with Airflow, Dagster or similar data orchestration frameworks
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs as well as experience working with both synchronous and asynchronous endpoints
  • Experience with Snowflake or Redshift
  • Strong understanding of SQL
  • Proficient in Python and Pandas
  • Experience working with JSON and XML
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and services (AWS preferably)
  • Experience with Git or equivalent version control systems and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with dbt a plus
  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills: welcome client's business challenges and identify data driven solutions
  • Ability to investigate, analyze and solve problems as well as clearly communicate results
  • Strong attention to detail, well organized, and can prioritize tasks under pressure
  • Must be a team player but also can work independently
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with the ability to learn and apply new concepts and tools quickly
  • Experience working in an agile product development environment
  • Is positive and motivating in a team environment

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent with data engineering experience
