Georgia-Pacific's Emporia Plywood facility is now hiring qualified professionals for their Electrical Planner/Scheduler opportunity to support the manufacturing operations at the facility located in Emporia, VA. This is not a remote position and will be required to work onsite at the Emporia plywood mill.

As an Electrical Planner you will create value by utilizing strong organizational and planning skills to prioritize work with the proper sense of urgency.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure maintenance work is planned in a proactive method by ensuring all activities are appropriately scoped, estimated, resourced, and in ready state prior to start of work.
  • Support the execution of maintenance work by receiving, planning, estimating and coordinating maintenance work orders.
  • Identifies the need for additional resources and communicates needs to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Effectively use the CMMS to develop and maintain the maintenance schedule, manage equipment data, update Bill of Materials (BOM) for assets, and develop standard maintenance procedures (SMP).
  • Identifies/recommends opportunities for improvements.
  • Maintains essential maintenance records and files.
  • Scope work and assess the requirements for routine, planned down day, and annual outage activities.
  • Verify the availability of parts, materials and tools required to perform a job prior to execution.
  • Create purchase requisitions for contractor labor and support storeroom management efforts.
  • Estimate the time and resources required for maintenance activities.
  • Engage in the plant's safety culture and be a leader in risk management.
  • Become CPR and First-Aid Trained.
  • Perform tasks such as lifting (up to 50 lbs.), walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day in a noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated manufacturing plant environment.
  • Maintain a strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Typical shift is day shift with rotational weekends. May be required to work any shift (up to 12 hours), holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
  • Experience repairing manufacturing machinery and/or electrical equipment (i.e. pumps, valves, motors, transmitters).
  • Intermediate knowledge of PLC/5 and RSLogix 5000 applications.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of electrical/electronic circuits and control devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Basic troubleshooting maintenance and application in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, circuits and components.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with MP2 software.
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment coaching, training, and developing staff.
  • Experience in coordinating and supervising contractors.
  • Experience with planning/scheduling within a manufacturing, industrial or military environment.
  • Experience with CAD.
