Job Summary

Serves as the lead fund development professional for the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation (MPSF). Delivers leadership and support for all philanthropic efforts, manages the relationships with foundation donors and prospects, and supports all donor solicitation efforts. Provides comprehensive administrative support for MPSF, including oversight of the donor database and donor stewardship efforts, grants management, office duties, and special events. Participates as part of the strategic development team to chart the future of the Foundation.

Qualifications
  • The position requires a bachelor's degree in business, non-profit management or a related field.
  • Three - five years of experience in fundraising or business development is desired.
  • A record of managing donor relations and gifts is required.
  • Previous experience in donor stewardship and familiarity with donor management software, accounting software and related systems are necessary.
  • Foundation or public sector experience is preferred.
Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the development of an individual and annual giving program and communicates with all parties on a regular basis.
  • Cultivates relationships with funders and with community organizations to develop additional revenue streams.
  • Writes and submits all MPSF grant proposals, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Creates solicitations and year-round engagement strategies to retain current and attract new donors.
  • Researches, identifies and creates strategies for all philanthropic opportunities, institutional donors, potential major gift prospects, and alumni relations.
  • Establishes and implements donor stewardship procedures based on industry evidence-based best practices.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of annual development plans with a focus on institutional partnerships, special projects, and capital support.
  • Oversees special events by planning, vendor management, and logistics.
  • Administers the Foundation's website and social media accounts.
  • Utilizes software and databases specific to the Foundation's work, documents procedures, and assists with data entry.
  • Serves as the liaison for all communications, training, monthly reporting, and other activities related to the management of funds for schools and district departments.
  • Coordinates meetings with MPS departments to discuss projects and to learn about potential events that can be shared with the community of donors.
  • Partners with program/department staff to fulfill grant requirements related to service delivery, outcomes and reporting. Ensures reporting requirements and proposal deadlines are met.
  • Provides administrative and operational support.
  • Manages volunteers and contingent staff as necessary.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
