THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) Manager, the Environmental Engineer will:

  • Leads LaSalle Site, Belmont, and Naplate environmental operations, ensuring compliance and timely reporting for all regulatory permits and conditions.
  • Assesses risks and helps to develop and lead implementation of strategic environmental programs.
  • Coordinates and directs effective root cause investigations related to environmental incidents and leads efforts for timely resolution.
  • Develops environmental-knowledge and leadership in non-EHSS personnel to drive compliance and a high performing culture.
  • Recommends appropriate environmental goals and reduction targets based upon plant and company priorities with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure that effective procedures and monitoring programs are in place to ensure compliance permit requirements.
  • Fill in for the EHSS manager role as appropriate.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The right candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong organization, communication, and multitasking skills. They will need to remain flexible in a continuously changing environment. Your credentials ideally include:

  • Bachelor's degree required in an engineering, environmental/health & safety, or technical field with two to five years of relevant experience working in a regulated chemical facility or facility which uses chemicals to manufacture an end product. Master's degree in relevant field a plus.
  • Candidate must possess critical thinking skills, a strong ethical drive, and a desire to support Best in Class EHSS.
  • Candidate should demonstrate ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence others.
  • Experience with permitting procedures, auditing, and root cause analysis preferred.
  • Experience with EPA FESOP and Title V, NPDES POTW, RCRA permit compliance, and solid waste landfill operations a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), demonstrated knowledge of computer skills, professional attitude, and ability to interact and work successfully in a team-oriented environment.
  • Candidate must demonstrate competencies and ability to be promotable to EHSS Manager or serve as fill-in as necessary.
  • An Industrial Class K Wastewater License and Certified Landfill Operator license is required for this role and will be obtained during employment; Candidate must have ability to obtain such licenses.
