Summary
Coordinate the admissions process, including communicating with referring facilities, scheduling admissions, obtaining insurance verification/authorization as indicated by Spaulding Rehabilitation entity. In accordance with Spaulding Rehabilitation policy assign patients to teams, physicians, nursing units and/or beds. Create and maintain various admissions-related statistical reports. Make admissions decisions. Oversee and perform all necessary functions related to the admissions area.
* Clinical information is reviewed to make admissions decisions, collaborating as needed with physicians, family members, case managers to uphold standards for admission.
* Coordination is provided between referral source and facility to ensure timely and smooth referral process.
* Referral information is maintained, updated, and provided to inpatient unit per established standards.
* Patient electronic information is managed via 4next and the entity referral systems per established guidelines.
* Demographic and insurance information is verified, and insurance signatures are obtained in accordance with established standards.
* Patients are assigned to physicians, nursing units and/or beds to achieve patient and organizational goals.
* Daily assignment of clinical updates is coordinated with liaison representatives covering their respective facilities.
* Conversion data and other related reports are prepared to meet established goals.
* Facility tours are provided to accurately and comprehensively represent organizational services.
* Input is provided in technology initiatives to enhance the admissions process and achieve department goals.
* Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

Qualifications and Experience
Education/Degree
Required
* Associate's Degree in a related discipline or relevant experience required.
Preferred
* Minimum 3 years related work experience required, preferably in hospital Admissions.
Experience

* Relevant clinical background preferred.
* Experience with medical terminology and hospital ADT system preferred.
Skills (Specific learned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, CPR, ACLS, etc.)

* Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.
* Effective verbal, electronic and written communications skills using the English language.
